FirstPort is asking its retirement customers to put their cards on the table by giving them an opportunity to rate their development and nominate it for a national award.

The opportunity comes from the Elderly Accommodation Counsel’s (EACs) annual National Housing for Older People Awards, which asks retirement residents to score their development on the quality of their property, facilities and services and the lifestyle.

The EAC is using a stimulating card game, designed for groups of residents to play together, giving them a chance to discuss their views and thoughts on their development based on the categories in the game.

Carol Crowe, Head of FirstPort Retirement Property Services, said:

“We’re always looking at ways to encourage our residents to enjoy the benefits of communal living by participating in lively group activities, and the EAC awards provide a great opportunity for residents to interact with each other in a fun way. At the same time, this approach provides FirstPort with valuable insight that can be used to highlight the very best developments, celebrate our successes and drive improvements.”

Over 400 packs were ordered by FirstPort residents last year, and four developments went on to win awards.

The Award celebrations will be held on 17 February at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
