FirstPort, the UK’s largest property management company, has been commended by Investors in People (IIP) and has achieved the Silver accreditation for the first time.

Achieving this Silver accreditation is no small task.  During this assessment, the IIP Assessor, Laura Watkinson-Smith, interviewed 113 randomly selected employees from a cross section of roles and business areas within FirstPort on their personal experiences of the business.  This feedback, together with a review of other HR-related policies and processes provides an ultimate score which is linked to Silver accreditation that we received.

Talking about this fantastic achievement, Nicole Meade, Head of HR for FirstPort, said:

“I’m so incredibly proud of achieving the IIP Silver accreditation under our new brand – we’ve leapfrogged over Bronze and we’re only a few points off Gold, so we still have something higher to aim for!

“In pursuing our accreditation it demonstrates our commitment, to both employees and external audiences, to look at our business from the people perspective.  We know that our people are our most valued asset and without the right staff in place we wouldn’t have a FirstPort!”

Laura Watkinson-Smith, the IIP Assessor, commented:

“It was an absolute pleasure to speak with representatives from FirstPort during the assessment process.  It’s clear from what I heard that a huge amount of positive change has been made in line with the new brand and FIRST values.  Whilst there is still more to do, if the business continues to work hard to embed further the great work, and addresses the development recommendations detailed in the report then additional accreditation is certainly achievable!

“Many congratulations to everyone at FirstPort – I look forward to working with you on your continued journey!”

The company has been committed to IIP since 2009, having held the standard IIP accreditation for the past 6 years.
