June 2018 marks the two year anniversary of the FirstPort and Emmaus charity partnership.
A markedly different charity to others – Emmaus offers far more than a shelter for one night. It offers a long term solution for those who have fallen on bad times, giving them the opportunity to rebuild their lives, regain their confidence and get back on track.
The two year partnership has seen some significant milestones, surpassing our original target of £50,000 by the end of 2016, FirstPort has now raised a grand total of £100,000 for Emmaus.
The efforts of FirstPort employees, customers and clients have funded four new rooms in the Emmaus Hertfordshire community, as well as contributing to three new rooms in the Emmaus Hampshire community.

Sallie Winterbottom, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Emmaus UK, said: “We’d like to thank all staff at FirstPort for their incredible support over the last two years. They have been amazing!
“Their staff have taken part in some really tough challenges including the London Marathon and climbing Snowdon, have fundraised in their offices, and have volunteered at Emmaus communities across the UK. In addition to all of this, the donations have been matched by FirstPort, doubling the total amount raised.
“FirstPort’s commitment will help to ensure the support we offer formerly homeless people, which includes providing a home, meaningful work and training for as long as they need it, can continue now and into the future.”
Nigel Howell, Chief Executive Officer of FirstPort, said: “When picking a charity to partner with, I knew it had to be one that embodied and mirrored our values. A charity that could genuinely touch and transform lives. Emmaus was the perfect fit and working with them over the last two years has been a delight.
I’m proud to see how the FirstPort team has supported this important cause and given their all to help raise £100,000 for Emmaus in just two years. It is great to see everyone’s hard work and dedication paying off helping more people to get off the streets, and on the road to recovery.”
