May was a remarkable month of fundraising across FirstPort, with colleagues and residents coming together to support our chosen charity, Tommy Club – a division of Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI). Thanks to their incredible commitment and creativity, we’re now approaching an impressive £40,000 raised – an extraordinary achievement that supports such an important cause.
Sky-high support: FirstPort colleagues take the plunge
A group of three brave colleagues from our south east team took fundraising to new heights by completing a charity skydive in support of Tommy Club.
Together, the team raised over £3,000, far exceeding their initial goals.
Associate Director Aimee-Leigh Cannon said the skydive was her “crazy idea”, adding: “A skydive is something I’ve always wanted to do, and it means even more doing it for such a worthy cause.
“Some of us were terrified of heights, but I’m so proud of everyone for facing their fears. Exceeding our fundraising targets just shows how motivated we all were to make a difference.”
Climbing for a cause: colleagues conquer Snowdon
Our Client Services Director Jessica Farrell, Emma Illston, and Lauren Gregory tackled Mount Snowdon – raising over £800 for Tommy Club.
At 1,085 metres above sea level, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is the tallest peak in Wales and the highest point in the UK outside the Scottish Highlands.
VE Day fundraising: cakes, teas, and community spirit
Marking Victory in Europe Day, FirstPort developments across the country hosted a variety of events in support of Tommy Club. From office bake sales to resident-led Tommy Teas, the celebrations raised over £2,000.
A special shoutout goes to one development that added a sweet twist to fundraising with a “Guess the Weight of the Cake” competition – raising nearly £900 through the challenge.
About Tommy Club
Tommy Club supports UK veterans by funding housing, employment opportunities, and specialist services for those transitioning from military to civilian life. Two million veterans live in the UK, and every year 15,000 people move from the armed forces to new civilian lives.
Tommy Club funds work with veterans of all Armed Forces in the UK via its parent charity RBLI.
Speaking about the fundraising, James Fletcher, RBLI’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “Fundraising is vital for our work, as it enables us to provide essential services to veterans, offering employment, housing, and assistance to rebuild their lives after service. FirstPort’s support for our Tommy Club is invaluable, and we really appreciate the commitment of their colleagues to help us create lasting, positive change for veterans.”
