Mayor of Solihull visits Later Living development to mark resident’s 100th birthday

The Mayor of Solihull recently visited a Later Living development in Solihull, to join the community in celebrating a resident’s 100th birthday.

Eileen Ponsonby has been a much-loved member of the community at Pegasus Court for 15 years and is an active participant in the extensive programme of activities available to residents throughout each week.

To mark her special day, Eileen’s neighbours joined her for a party in her honour, in the development’s communal lounge.

Also among the guests was Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Shahin Ashraf, alongside Deputy Mayor, Councillor Annette Mackenzie, who is a regular visitor to Pegasus Court.

Monique Astruc, Development Manager at Pegasus Court, commented: “Eileen is an amazing lady and has been an extremely happy resident at Pegasus Court for 15 years.

“Eileen is our first ever resident to celebrate their 100th birthday with us. The residents and I wanted to celebrate this wonderful member of our community and throw a party and it was lovely to have the Mayor and Deputy Mayor joining in our celebrations too!”

Reflecting on a wonderful day surrounded by her friends, Eileen said: “Thanks to Monique, the Development Manager for inviting the Mayor of Solihull to come to my party, it really made my day.”

“The Mayor told me she would like to return to Pegasus Court and join us for a coffee morning. I had mentioned about my faith as a strong Catholic woman, and to my great surprise she said she wanted to gift me beads that had blessed by the Pope on her travels to the Vatican.”
