New entertainment pack for Retirement residents

Today we’re delighted to launch the first of our new weekly entertainment packs for our Retirement residents. These are challenging times for all of us, but for many of our Retirement residents who live alone this is a particularly lonely and difficult time. Our Development Managers will be putting the latest release of these printed packs containing puzzles, crosswords, adult colouring and recipes, under any of their residents’ doors who may find them useful every Friday.

Sam Gibson, Director – Retirement Operations, said: “We care for nearly 60,000 homes in Independent and Assisted Living Retirement Developments. It’s so important our residents follow the government guidance on self-isolating and social distancing to keep themselves, their neighbours and the staff at their development safe, but we understand how difficult and how lonely it is for them at the moment. Our Development Managers are doing a brilliant job checking in on all of our residents every day, while observing social distancing requirements, but we wanted to do something more for our residents to help keep them entertained when they’re on their own. I’m sure these weekly entertainment packs will provide some light relief during this challenging time for our residents.”

The packs are already receiving positive feedback from our on-site colleagues. John shared his views: “This is an excellent idea and will really help keep up morale amongst my residents. The imagination being shown by all my fellow colleagues at FirstPort is very heartening and makes me proud to come to work. We really do all pull together to support each other and our residents.”

We’re committed to doing all we can to help our residents stay physically and mentally active and will be releasing more resources over the coming weeks. Next week, we will be launching a series of filmed mini-workouts. These workouts have been developed with Rosemary Conley CBE, the Editor in Chief of our Life & Style retirement customer magazine.
