Residents Celebrate 25 Years of Their Much-Loved Retirement Development

Weston Court

Residents from Weston Court in Whetstone celebrated their development’s 25th anniversary with a pizza party to mark the special occasion on Sunday 10 November.

The pizza was followed by ice cream (accompanied by a sing-song of ‘Just One Cornetto’) and a picture quiz that one of the residents, Gordon Mead, had put together.

Weston Court has 39 flats and was built in 1994 by developer McCarthy & Stone. FirstPort Retirement Property Services is proud to still be managing this much-loved independent living development 25 years on.

Local lady, Pat Irven, 90, was one of the first residents of Weston Court, buying the very last flat to be sold. She has since moved on from Weston Court, but still stays in touch with friends she made at the development. She remembers the Beverley Sisters – who lived local to the development at the time – opening the building 25 years ago, which was met with much excitement.

The oldest residing resident at Weston Court is 98 year old Gordon Mead. Gordon has lived there for five years and says: “I like living here because it’s smaller than my old four bedroomed house and a lot easier to run. We’re a happy community. We had a happy time at the anniversary party and enjoyed the slices of pizza and ice cream!”

FirstPort Development Manager, Sally Newton, says: “It’s an honour and privilege to work at Weston Court. The community we have here is really special with residents looking out for one another and creating a happy home. Here’s to another 25 years of Weston Court!”
