FirstPort receives sixth consecutive five-star health & safety grading

FirstPort has received a five-star grading from a recent Health and Safety Audit for the sixth consecutive year.  Not stopping there, the organisation’s Health and Safety focus continues with it adding ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety for the first time.

The Five-Star Audit measures performance against a number of key safety management indicators.  The audit provides organisations with a benchmark of their safety culture and management systems against current worldwide best practice and enables continual improvement.

As part of the 2021 audit process, FirstPort was also assessed against the criteria of the ISO 45001 international standard for occupational health & safety.

The British Safety Council conducted the combined Five-Star and ISO audits during November 2021, which included a detailed, quantified and objective evaluation of FirstPort’s occupational health and safety culture and management system.

The British Safety Council looked at the organisation’s approach to occupational health, employee wellbeing, safety culture, allocation of resources to health and safety, and planning for change all of which are considered important best practice factors.

Nigel Howell, Chief Executive at FirstPort, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted to have achieved BSC Five-Star grading for the sixth year in succession, underlining our consistent and continued focus on safety.  In addition, we also achieved ISO 45001 certification which further demonstrates how well we benchmark against the very best health and safety standards.

“Against the backdrop of COVID, considerable growth as a business, and significant changes to the building and fire safety agenda, we have continued to demonstrate our uncompromising commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our customers, colleagues and partners.  Health and Safety continues to be a priority for FirstPort and this award is a testament to the continuing hard work and dedication of our colleagues.”
