Thomas Girling has joined FirstPort as HR Business Partner. He joins having previously worked in Singapore for the past decade offering HR consultancy to heavy industries such as oil and gas, marine and construction. His latest role was working for Fokker/GKN Aerospace where he was HR Manager leading the function across Asia.
At FirstPort his role will be to support the delivery of a great employee lifecycle experience – recruitment, employee engagement and talent development for the IT, Finance, Legal, Health & Safety and Business Development functions. As the company is expanding the current headcount of 330 in these support functions is set to grow quickly in the near future.
Craig Rowe, Head of HR said: “We’re delighted someone of Tom’s experience will also be on hand to closely support senior leaders across the company to implement the business’s data implementation and HR strategy.”
Tom Girling said: “My role will be to ensure our people are equipped with the best working conditions to do what they do best. So if it’s a conversation about employee development, engagement, workforce or succession planning, I’ll be the one to talk to.”
Tom continues: “In my previous role the focus was in one location whereas at FirstPort many of our colleagues work remotely and are not always office based. There is a much larger HR team here as we are a 3,200 person organisation so providing a consistent delivery will be really important to me.”
