Spreading some Christmas cheer at FirstPort

With a challenging year coming to an end, we’ve been determined to spread a bit of FirstPort Christmas cheer. We may not have been able to get-together and celebrate as normal in the lead-up to the big day, but that hasn’t stopped our residents and colleagues spreading some Christmas sparkle…

Tembani Court in Devon has made the run-up to Christmas special with Santa and his elf (aka the Development Manager and her husband) doing a socially distanced walk-around. The Development Manager has also sourced a local company who will be making a hot meal for those who are not leaving the development on Christmas Day.

At Sorrento Court in Moseley there’s been a Christmas quiz posted through doors, and the Development Manager both here and at Homelawn House in Bexhill-On-Sea have got creative and hand-painted post boxes so residents can post their cards to be delivered.

Homelake House in Poole has received some beautiful Christmas cards from the local school who had previously visited the development regularly, and residents have sent cards back. There’s been a Christmas raffle too, all this with the backdrop of a CD of the residents’ choir to bring back happy memories as they are unable to perform this year.

At Chardwar Gardens in Cheltenham, residents usually gather to celebrate the Christmas tree lights going on, with mulled wine, sherry or hot chocolate. This year, the Development Manager walked around with the goodies in the estates’ wheelbarrow delivering to doors from a distance.

At Pegasus Court in Exeter the Development Manager decorated a named bauble for each resident, which they have all hung on the foyer Christmas Tree. The idea is that this is one way that all the residents can be together, despite the physical distance.

At Beech Court in Mapperley, baubles have been added to their Christmas tree in memory of loved ones or as a Christmas wish, and everyone put a battery tea light outside their window so the development lit up whilst they watched a guest appearance of Santa in the garden from their windows.

At Barkers Court in Sittingbourne they have used the activity packs that FirstPort has provided for competitions, and the Development Manager has run a ‘guess the residents’ quiz where residents have provided pictures of their younger selves.

At Windsor Court in Newquay the Development Manager will be doing the rounds with a sherry and mince pie trolley to leave outside residents’ apartments on Christmas Eve, and at Homecroft House in Bognor Regis, a few residents have worked hard to build an outdoor nativity scene from wood to keep their spirits high.

Not to be outdone, we’ve also had many office teams get together virtually for meetings dressed in their Christmas finery, to spread a bit of FirstPort Christmas cheer.

Merry Christmas to all our customers and clients.
