In just 18 months, colleagues from across The FirstPort Group have raised nearly £44,000 in support of their charity partner, Tommy Club.
Since launching the partnership in April 2024, FirstPort colleagues have taken part in a wide range of fundraising activities, from bake sales and festive jumper days to sponsored walks and skydives.
Their collective efforts have helped Tommy Club, part of Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI), provide vital support to ex-service personnel facing homelessness, unemployment, and mental health challenges.
Some of the contributions include:
- The Later Living South East team raised over £7,000 through various fundraising initiatives
- A skydiving challenge led by our South East regional team raised nearly £4,000
- The Great Tommy Sleep Out generated £7,500, with Property Manager Damian Prouse raising £3,100 by sleeping outside for an entire month. These efforts contributed to Tommy Club’s national fundraising total of £2 million for The Great Tommy Sleep Out — a third more than the previous year.
Martin King, Managing Director at FirstPort and Patron of Tommy Club, praised the achievement:
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together. Raising nearly £44,000 in just 18 months shows the compassion and commitment of our people and communities. Their fundraising is helping restore hope, dignity, and opportunity to those who’ve served our country.“
Lisa Farmer OBE, CEO of Tommy Club, added:
“Smashing the £40,000 barrier is fantastic news! Your support is making a real difference to veterans across the UK, especially the 300 families we care for at our village in Kent. Please keep going — your fundraising has a real impact.”
Tommy Club, established by RBLI, has supported veterans since the First World War. Today, it provides emergency accommodation, adapted housing, employment opportunities, and welfare support — including the development of 22 new homes by 2026 at its village in Kent.
