Poppies On The Pier 4

From heartfelt tributes to joyful celebrations, FirstPort colleagues and residents across the country have continued to embrace their communities, uniting to honour traditions, support local causes, and share unforgettable moments. Here are a few examples of the activities that have taken place in recent weeks.

Communities unite in creative tributes ahead of Armistice Day

Residents across our developments showcased incredible creativity and heartfelt dedication in honouring Armistice Day. Since May, talented knitters and crocheters have crafted hundreds of poppies for the Southend-on-Sea Poppy Appeal, culminating in a stunning display along the entire length of Southend Pier – the world’s longest pleasure pier alongside striking entrance decorations at individual sites.

At Ryan Court in Blandford, colleagues and residents proudly earned a “Highly Commended” certificate in the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Window Display competition, presented by the Mayor and Mayoress of Blandford.

Meanwhile, at Penhaven Court in Newquay, residents knitted and crocheted over 1,000 poppies, creating a beautiful display at the building entrance and raising an impressive £772 for Help for Heroes.
