Managing a young family, confined indoors, seven days a week and doing your day job with them all running around at home is a challenge even Superman and Wonder Woman would find exhausting. But you’re not alone and our Talent team have provided some top tips which they’ve shared with colleagues across FirstPort.

Tip 1 - Schedule your day

Make a plan for your day and share it with your family. Take regular scheduled breaks, including lunch, and try to do this together so that you do have some time in the day for each other – this may help reduce interruptions while you are trying to work.

A dedicated workspace will help your kids know not to disturb you when you are working, unless they really need to.

Squeezing in a full day’s work whilst you’re working from home with children might be a challenge but remember to give yourself time to recharge by taking a break. Try to time this when your kids are taking a break too.

When working from home, mealtimes can feel like a rush so try to create a plan the night before. Maybe even make packed lunches for young kids to make it fun.
